Black Sheep Wools is a family run knitting and needlecraft retailer based in the Cheshire countryside. Our first shop came to life in the village of Culcheth in 1983. We are still very much a village store with a welcoming atmosphere and experts advice always on hand.

We are at the centre of a supportive and wonderful craft community and run regular knit, crochet and make alongs through our website, Facebook group, Sara's videos and our Youtube channel. We'd love you to join us.

The UK's Largest Knitting & Stitching Shop

Customers don't just visit us for our enormous range though, our biggest asset is our friendly, expert (some may say fanatical) staff.

We have one of the best ranges of Scheepjes in store, in the UK and are proud to have Designer shops featuring Arne and Carlos, Cherry Heart, Lilla Bjorn, Emma Varnam and more.

Our stitching selection is pretty special too. We stock a massive range of Bothy threads, DMC and Anchor kits, plus incredible samplers from Historical Sampler Company. There’s a huge range of Aida and threads too.

We stock a huge range and Inside the Craft Barn you'll find yarn in a multitude of different weights and colours from all of the biggest and best yarn brands through to knitting and crochet supplies, patterns, books, crafting kits, accessories and so much more.

Rowan Flagship Store

We were the first Rowan Flagship store in the country, and stock an enormous range of their books and yarns plus lots of sample garments to give you inspiration. Our shop staff are trained to advise with Rowan queries and we run popular regular events and fashion shows.
